Description

This structured learnership leads to an Instrument Mechanician Trade Test Certificate, conducted under the auspices of the Mining Qualification Authority (MQA).

What You Will Gain

As a Learner Instrument Technician, you will:

  • Receive hands‑on workplace training in a real industrial environment
  • Develop a solid understanding of plant instrumentation and system control
  • Gain exposure to:
    • Process control systems and PLC programming
    • SCADA systems and Instrumentation networks
  • Learn how to diagnose and resolve instrumentation challenges to support production targets
  • Build a strong foundation for long‑term career growth in the refining and engineering sector

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • A completed N6, S4, or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) – Specialisation in Instrumentation and Process Control is essential.
  • Basic theoretical knowledge of process control systems; and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and numerical skills
  • Computer literacy and medical fitness to work at both PMR and BMR plants
