Requirements
- Grade 12
- No experience required.
Knowledge:
- A limited range of working procedure in respect of health customer service working environment
- Elementary duties such as:
- Health and safety measures
- Planning
- Organizing.
Skills:
- Basic numeracy and literacy
- Good communication
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders
- Good interpersonal relationship
- Have the ability to organise and perform routine tasks with minimum supervision
- Have the ability to liaise with stakeholders
- Be prepared to work under pressure and be able to work in a team
- Sound knowledge of customer care, Patients ‘Rights Charter and BATHO Pele Principles
- Ability to plan and handle multiple tasks
- Communicate tactfully in different languages and be willing to attend training
- Be prepared to rotate and work shifts/weekends and holidays, and perform physical labour.
- It is a legal requirement that employees wear protective clothing
The following will be an advantage:
- Grade 10 qualification or equivalent qualification
- 1 year of of experience in a hospital environment in a patient-facing function
- Computer Literacy
Duties
Auxiliary Workers are expected to perform a wide range of supportive duties that enhance patient experience and hospital efficiency.
- Welcome patients and visitors
- Manage and monitor patient queues
- Screen patients and fast-track vulnerable individuals
- Direct patients to appropriate service areas
- Maintain order in waiting rooms
- Complete daily waiting time monitoring tools accurately
- Identify service bottlenecks and report them to supervisors
- Check waiting areas for cleanliness and faulty equipment
- Assist in resolving minor complaints and escalating issues when required
