Events & Communications Coordinator. The Nelson Mandela Foundation seeks to employ an Events & Communications Coordinator to coordinate the logistical arrangements for events while supporting broad department objectives through facilitation and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting the communications, marketing and events functions of the team
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of internal and external events
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of event materials and services
  • Coordinate social media calendar and content for platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube,
  • Create engaging social media content for programmes, and coordinating their content plans to enhance brand presence and engagement on social media
  • Assist in scheduling posts, and monitoring interaction
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of internal communications materials such as posters, emails and announcements
  • Research trends to ensure needs and social injustice issues are proactively identified
  • Maintain and grow the Institution’s media database and
  • Assist with media relations
  • Support the internal communications in the creation and distribution of internal communications materials such as posters, emails, announcements etc., and support Human Capital

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Marketing/Public Relations
  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in marketing events/PR/ communications environment
  • Fluency in English and an additional South African language
  • Understanding of the public relations environment with a strong commitment to social justice

Working conditions

The role is mainly office-based.
