Pharmacist Assistant Learnership

Location: Netcare Rosebank Hospital

The Pharmacist Assistant Learner will be responsible for the provision of medication and supplementary services to patients and members of the healthcare team under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist. The Pharmacist Assistant will also assume responsibility for meeting patients’ needs in a responsible, satisfactory, and cost-effective manner.

Requirements

Education

  1. NQF Level4/ Grade 12 (Core Mathematics, English and Life Science)

Skills

  • Computer Literate
  • Good communication skills

Other requirements

  • Able to work shifts
  • Persons living with disability applications welcome
  • Must be currently unemployed and and not enrolled for any other SETA learnerships

Key Work Output and Accountabilities

Operational Excellence

Stock control

  • Participate in all aspects of cyclical and full stock-take processes including procurement and ethical stock control.
  • Process stock for internal departments and inter-clinic sales
  • Assist in the management of stock in accordance to Netcare Stock Management policy with special emphasis on designated stock areas.

General

  • Responsible for own compliance to regulations as set out by the SA Pharmacy Council.
  • Follow up on outstanding medication owing to patients timeously
  • Conduct related administrative and house-keeping tasks.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager/ Pharmacist.

Best and Safest Patient Care

Medication dispensing

  • Assist the pharmacist in all aspects of dispensing
  • Picking and packaging of medicine under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Capture all dispensed items to patients account and according to medical aid TTO rules
  • Capture patients’ profiles on Unisolve system
  • Capture prescription on Unisolve system
  • Assist with the monthly chronic medicine recall.
