Job Description
To support the Premier supply chain by managing the day-to-day purchasing of packaging materials and maintaining optimal on-site stock levels. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and quality material availability to avoid production delays. The Packaging Material Buyer will work closely with internal teams to monitor usage and buffer levels, while also collaborating with Senior Buyers to align site-level activities with broader procurement strategies.
Qualification Requirements
- Diploma or B. Com degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Cost Accounting (Essential)
Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a buyer.
- 3+ years of analytical experience, preferably in the FMCG sector
- 1-2 years of product development project experience (Desirable)
- 3+ years in procurement and supply chain (Desirable)
Key Outputs
- Maintain optimal inventory levels by tracking material usage, monitoring buffer stocks, and coordinating with production planning to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Ensure timely and accurate purchasing of packaging materials in line with production requirements, preventing shortages or overstocking.
- Collaborate with Senior Buyers to align local purchasing activities with broader procurement strategies, providing relevant site-level insights and supporting contract execution.
- Collaborate with Brand and the Packaging Technologist to coordinate the introduction and discontinuation of packaging materials, ensuring timely availability to support new product launches and product renovations.
- Support supplier performance monitoring by reporting on delivery issues, quality concerns, and usage trends to drive continuous improvement.
- Comply with company procurement policies, including food safety, health and safety, and regulatory standards, while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
